Iceland Cave Tower
One glance at one of my mother’s postcards, and all of the feelings of nostalgia I feel towards my home come rushing back in. One of the main elements that differentiates us from the rest of the species on Earth is the immense importance and value we had attributed to our homes. Yet, the reason for this shift of value is due to the link we make between our home and our family, whether it be our biological one or not.
The Feels Like Home Pavilion aims to portray the large variety of feelings and connections us as humans attribute to the concept of our home, by displaying an array of sentimental items that remind individuals of their home within transparent miniature models of the shell of the home itself. This global mutual understanding of home, is one of humanity’s greatest achievements as it shows how we’re all connected, despite differences.
The Kenyan Rift Valley is believed to be the birthplace of human kind, our original home. The pavilion’s 1st location is by the valley, in order to further emphasize its concept: starting from the very beginning of our time as species.
